One St. Louis Woman's Story

In the Spring of 2003, I was diagnosed with a chemical imbalance resulting in depression. I was treated using a new prescription and seemed to be doing fine. Then, around July, I began having some medical problems and eventually, it was determined that the new prescription was the cause. So, my doctor immediately took me off of the prescription. That was in October. I collapsed emotionally and mentally from the sudden withdrawal and contemplated suicide.

At the time, I was scheduled to run sound for the Thrive Women's Conference at my church. Normally, I would have canceled because I didn't feel like going. However, since I had committed to run sound, I felt the responsibility to show up and so I did, reluctantly. It was the best thing I could have done. I was being treated by some alternate prescriptions at the time, but had not yet recovered and the conference changed that for me. I believe I recovered faster because of the hope I heard that year in the speakers and songs. I have never missed a conference since!
